Background
The user is a cash crop regulatory system supplier in the United States. The plant tracking and tracing solution of the supplier is now the industry standard. This solution has provided state regulators with a means to view the entire planting and production history behind every plant-based product sold in their jurisdiction with strong hardware support from Chainway C72 UHF RFID reader.
Challenges
1. Traditional barcode-based solutions require plenty of time for on-site inspections, audits and investigations performed by regulatory agencies and are thus inefficient.
2. It has been impossible to track and trace the plants all the way from growing, processing to sales.
3. It requires more manpower and time costs to upload data, collect statistics and perform queries.
4. When there was a problem with the product, recalls have not carried out efficiently and accurately.
Solution
Our solution combines advanced software, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, professional customer support team and secure database to track and trace plants from growth, harvesting, processing to testing, transportation and sales. The solution requires growers to attach low-cost RFID tags to plants after they have been confirmed to be able to survive. Each tag is embedded with a unique chip and carries encoded regulatory information. In each subsequent key stage such as growing, processing, and sales, the information can be obtained by scanning the tag with a Chainway C72 UHF RFID reader and transmitted to the central database, where information can be analyzed to track the movement of plants and associated personnel. This information can be harnessed to monitor and optimize the supply chain and prevent theft or other losses.
Outcome
1. Based on the application of Chainway C72, a powerful data tracking platform has been created to enable the tracking and recording of plants all the way from growing, processing to circulation in market which has strengthened the supervision of the market health of this cash crop.
2. Licensed users can upload and report information of impacts to plant status or product manufacturing in real time, and managers can monitor and optimize supply chain management in real time.
3. When plants are harvested and packaged or combined with other plants to produce oils, edibles or concentrates, regulatory agencies can view and trace the information of the source, test results, and chain of custody, making management more convenient.
4. The product recall process has been greatly simplified. Burden of inspection, audit and reporting has been reduced.
5. The solution has enabled timely feedback to the impact of policy adjustments and marked up unusual differences, providing the decision-making basis for policy makers.
